What this site collects.

The quote form asks for your name, your email address and the services you need, and optionally your business name, your current website and a message. It also carries a hidden field that real people never fill in, used to catch automated spam. If anything is entered into it, the submission is discarded and nothing is sent.

I use what you send to reply to you and to prepare your quote. I do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

Submitting the form does not write to a database, because there is no database. It sends one email to hello@qistudio.ca, and from then on your message lives in my inbox like any other email.

Three companies handle it along the way, each acting on my instructions rather than for their own purposes:

• Resend delivers the email. It keeps a copy of each email it sends, including the content, for 30 days.
• Vercel hosts this site and keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
• Google hosts my email, runs the booking scheduler and, if you allow it, runs Google Analytics. Both are described below.

All three are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there. Their own privacy policies are published by Resend, Vercel and Google.

The booking page embeds Google’s appointment scheduler. When that page loads, your browser connects to Google, and Google may set its own cookies in that frame, the same as on any Google page. Apart from Google Analytics, if you have allowed it, this is the only page on the site where Google sets cookies.

If you book, the name, email address and time you enter go to Google Calendar, and Google sends the confirmation and the meeting link. Because Google already hosts my email, booking a call does not involve any company beyond the three listed above.

If you would rather not use it, email me two or three times that suit you and I will confirm one directly.

If you allow it, the site loads Google Analytics, which tells me how the site is used: which pages people visit, how they arrived (from a search or a link, for example), roughly where they are (country and city), and what kind of device and browser they use. I look at it in aggregate, to see which pages are useful, and never to identify you.

Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_DXEWLZW8Y8, which let it recognise a return visit and expire two years after your last one. The site tells Google not to use this data for advertising. Google keeps the detailed data for the retention period set in my Analytics account, after which only aggregated reports remain.

If you decline, Google Analytics never loads. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, so you are not asked again on every page. You can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, and withdrawing clears the Analytics cookies.

Your enquiry stays in my inbox for as long as it is useful. If we work together, I keep our correspondence for the length of the project and for as long as I am required to keep business records. If we do not, you can ask me to delete it at any time and I will.

Under PIPEDA, Canada’s federal privacy law, you can ask what personal information I hold about you and ask me to correct it. You can also ask me to delete it, and I will unless I am required to keep it. Email hello@qistudio.ca and I will deal with it myself. There is no form to fill in and no account to log into.

If you would rather I stopped emailing you, reply and say so, and I will.

If you are not satisfied with how I have handled a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
