A Shopify rebuild for a Toronto bath and kitchen showroom, with a 75,000-SKU catalogue and online sales that tripled within three months of launch.

The problem

Vatero's website was barely selling. The showroom carries more than 75,000 SKUs from dozens of suppliers who change their ranges every year, and the old site had fallen far behind them. Too many products were missing the data ad campaigns depend on, so the catalogue was hard to advertise. Shoppers who did arrive faced nine top-level categories crowded into one bar, with little sense of where a product would be. Vatero also wanted to sell to its trade customers online, at their own prices, and the old site had no way to do it.

What I did

I rebuilt the store on Shopify from the ground up, including the shipping and order handling that let showroom staff run online sales themselves. I built a current catalogue of more than 75,000 SKUs, filled in the product data ad campaigns depend on, and set up an update pipeline that keeps it in step with suppliers' yearly changes. I restructured the navigation around information scent, with categories and headings that tell shoppers where a product will be before they click. For the Trade Program, I built a custom Shopify app that lets approved trade accounts organise products by room, download a whole project's spec sheets as one package and check out at their own prices. It was ready to launch when I handed it over.

Where it landed

Online sales tripled within three months of launch and kept climbing. Vatero now runs Google Shopping and YouTube ads on the product data the old site was missing.

  • Vatero navigation open under Shower + Faucets, grouping shower kits, valves and trims under Shower Systems, beside bathtub faucets, shower components and vanity faucets
The menu headings name fixture types, so shoppers can tell where a product lives before they click.
  • Two phone screens of the Vatero store on beige. One shows the menu opened to Shower + Faucets, with Shower Systems expanded to Shower Kits, Shower Valves and Shower Trims above Shower Enclosures, Bathtub Faucets, Shower Components and Vanity Faucets. The other shows the product page for the Kohler Calpa 48-inch vanity, with its photograph, title and a sale price of $4,353
On a phone, the menu opens one level at a time under the same fixture-type headings. Product pages lead with the photo and price.
  • Vatero products listing showing 25,001 products sorted by best selling, with vanities, a towel warmer and a gold soap dispenser, each with finish swatches
The update pipeline keeps more than 75,000 SKUs from dozens of suppliers in step with their yearly changes.
  • Vatero product page for the Kohler Calpa 48-inch vanity with finish options and price, and a specifications panel listing length, width, height and weight beside spec sheet and installation manual downloads
Product pages put finish options up front and list exact dimensions beside the spec sheet and installation manual.
